Another Milestone Anniversary

It was 35 years ago today that Patrolman James Lonchiadis, a 28-year-old married father of two, was fatally shot during a traffic stop in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. He was the first Shrewsbury officer—and, we hope, the last—to be killed in the line of duty in the town’s history. His killer was paroled two years ago, even though, as far as I’m concerned, he could never have paid his debt to society, our town, and the Lonchiadis family.
